I’m so excited to finally blog Kina and Wes’s wedding!  We love, love, LOVE shooting ceremonies at the Air Force Academy Chapel, and I knew I wanted to save their blog post so I could end the 2009 wedding posts with fireworks!

Kina is the tiniest person I’ve ever seen in real life.  Seriously.  I had to eat like 3 bags of swedish fish immediately after the wedding to console my pregnant self about the fact that even not pregnant, I’ll never look that good!

And how handsome is Wes in his mess dress?!

It never fails–the father/daughter moments are usually my favorite.

The USAFA chapel is so much fun to shoot in.  So much color!

Because we weren’t sure if a sparklers get-away would be possible after the reception, Wes and Kina rocked two “grand exits” (if you can’t do sparklers, the daylight exit from the ceremony is definitely your best photographic option).

I got a little arty after the ceremony.  I was feelin’ the love.  :)

The wedding party was awesome.  But with Air Force guys, it’s always going to be!

Nic found a little patch of light coming through that I could have made out with.  It was the perfect spot, and we could have kept Wes and Kina there all day.  Beautiful back light + long grass = my favorite spot.

I love it when a bride will sit down on the ground in her dress!

Another arty shot?!  I was kinda out of control.  :P

The reception at the Marriott was a blast–lots of good dancing.

And the guests were totally rocking the photo booth.

Ready for fireworks?

I have so many favorites from this wedding–you can see their album preview here.

Kina and Wes, thanks for being so patient and letting me end 2009 with fireworks!    Your wedding was gorgeous, and we loved spending the day with you!

In a totally “small world” coincidence, we photographed two wedding ceremonies at St Vincent de Paul in Denver back-to-back!  Iliana and Freddy’s ceremony in November, and Christine and Tom’s in December!

I love, love, love this getting dressed shot and all of its warm glowy-ness.

Christine and her dad were so sweet–I just love this hug in the getting room as he saw her as A Bride for the first time!

Everyone should always get married in front of Christmas trees!  (It might be a little weird in June, but just look how pretty it is!)

weddingphotographercoloradosprings3

This is my favorite shot from the ceremony (which is saying a lot since there’s not a Christmas tree to be seen)!  :D  And PS to the photographers out there, I was off in a side hallway to get this shot [you can see the doorway blurred out on the left].  I’d never get up on the altar and subscribe to the philosophy that God should immediately strike down any photographers/videographers that would be so obnoxious!

The wedding party was full of rock stars.  Open toed shoes?  Snow?  No problem.  Bravest bridesmaids ever!!

weddingphotographercoloradosprings5

See what I mean about the Christmas trees?!

Christine and Tom, thanks so much for sharing your wedding with us!  We loved working with you both and getting to the spend the day with your gracious family and friends.  Thanks for being our last wedding before I go on maternity leave!  We wish you tons of happiness in 2010!

christmas

Dec 26, 2009

We hope you all had a Christmas as wonderful as ours!  Here is a glimpse of our last holiday as “just us three”…

I strung Christmas lights on Will’s bed as a surprise on the 23rd (I was going to wait until Christmas Eve but I suck at waiting).  They were a BIG hit.

christmas

I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to fit into my stripey pajamas, but I channeled my inner Tim Gunn and “made it work.”  (Will’s stripey pajama bottoms ended up going MIA and we had to swap in some different Christmas pajamas.  I’m trying not to cry all over the place about it.)

christmas21

Will’s one and only request of Santa was for a Hungry Hungry Hippos game to replace his old one that had been broken.  It was the only present he was expecting that day–so it was lucky that he happened to pick that one to open first!

christmas3

Needless to say, it wasn’t actually the only present he got that morning!

christmas4

(I never would have guessed that it would be my SISTER who got Will his first gun!  Although considering the vast array of weaponry in his arsenal of swords, light sabers, and the like, a little star wars blaster is probably the least deadly of the bunch…)

christmas6

This marble works tower from Discovery Toys has been every bit as awesome as I expected (and remembered from my own preschool days).  It’s really fun to build/rebuild tracks with!

christmas5

And one of the absolute biggest hits was this robot dinosaur from my parents.  If you have a little boy, it’s worth checking out for birthdays/next Christmas.   “Deeno the Dino” as he has been named is very much beloved, and the controller is very well designed and intuitive for the 3 year old set!

christmas7

And with that, we are off to the zoo!  Enjoy your Christmas weekend!
