The Thomsons have always been like a second family to me (I even lived with them the summer before I started college), and so when Erin got married earlier this month I went back to Seattle for a weekend to shoot her wedding as a gift.  This is going to be an over-the-top long blog post, but I can’t help myself–Erin and Paige are like the sisters I just never get to see!  I’ll start with my favorite picture from the weekend–a miraculous coming-together (if you’ve ever tried to get a big group shot during a reception you know how rare it is for everyone to somehow spontaneously appear exactly at the same time) of the original Cooper-Thomson party crew doing Scott’s patented picture wave (thanks to my brother-in-law Brian for rockin’ this shot for me!).  (Legal disclaimer: “Original” isn’t really true since the Cooper-Thomson friendship goes back one generation farther to a Cooper-Boyko friendship; my dad and Keren were childhood neighbors!)

Erin and Ryan were married at the Januik Winery in Woodinville in my home state of Washington.  :)  Their rehearsal dinner the night before was a blast.  Here’s a peek at the fun we had (my mom and dad are at the top right, my sister and I are laughing it up in the second row)…

Erin is always stunning, so our predictions that she would be a knock-out bride of course came true!  Scott’s reaction to seeing Erin in her wedding dress was the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen.  There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

Ryan and Erin were so much fun to photograph.  Ryan is 6 feet 1 million inches tall, so it wasn’t until I plopped them down on the stairs for closeups that I discovered just how stinking handsome he is!  Nice job, Erin!  ;)

After our portraits at the Januik winery we snuck over to Chateau St Michelle for a couple of pictures there.

And then it was show time!

After the ceremony came the party!  The area set aside for the groomsmen to get ready (and where the wedding party went immediately after the ceremony) had the coolest uplighting that was constantly changing.  I want to install it in my living room.  (Nic says no.  Actually that’s a lie, he’d be totally all over that.)  Above the cake table Erin had hung wedding pictures from the bride’s and groom’s family history.  They were such a treat to look at!

Erin and Ryan, it was such a privilege to capture your wedding day!  I hope I get to see a lot more of you guys in the next decade than I have in the last!  :)

We loved shooting a wedding at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield three years ago, so we were excited to return for Katie and Daniel’s wedding!  They are such a sweet couple and not even the drizzle that fell during their ceremony could dampen their day!

Katie got all of the bridesmaids these beautiful robes from this Etsy seller in India.

Katie and Daniel’s wedding programs were some of the prettiest I’ve ever seen.

The dance floor at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield is outside and lit by wonderfully romantic cafe lights.  I loved playing off only the available light to capture as much of the mood of the reception as possible!

Katie and Derek’s beautiful wedding at the Broadmoor was a joy to photograph!  Danielle from Entwined Planning coordinated the day beautifully, our beloved Dawn from Hillside Consultants had rocked the flowers, and Randy made the party swing!

Katie had a number of thoughtful touches during the day–one of which was sewing a bit of her mom’s wedding dress into her dress along with the date.

The weather held up for the beautiful outdoor ceremony.

Immediately after the ceremony the skies opened and the wind arrived and we had to move our portrait plans inside.  In a stroke of luck, though, the weather eventually improved enough for us to dash outside for the last ten minutes of the cocktail hour for some outdoor portraits.

You know a wedding reception at the Broadmoor is going to be stunning, and this one certainly didn’t disappoint!  It was also notable for us as the only wedding reception we’ve seen where the man who caught the garter and the woman who caught the bouquet were a couple!

It was an honor to photograph Katie and Derek’s stunning wedding.  We wish them much happiness!
