Jump-starting our wedding photography season were Marc and Julie (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.needlesandapen.com\/photography\/blog\/manitou-springs-engagement-portraits-julie-and-marc\/\" target=\"_blank\">whose engagement portraits sneak peek is here<\/a>)!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-788 aligncenter\" title=\"marcjulie3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.needlesandapen.com\/photography\/blog-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/marcjulie3.jpg\" alt=\"colorado springs wedding photography\" width=\"512\" height=\"742\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They held their wedding at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coloradoeats.com\/margarita\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Margarita at Pine Creek<\/a> here in Colorado Springs:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-786 aligncenter\" title=\"themargarita\" src=\"http:\/\/www.needlesandapen.com\/photography\/blog-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/marcjulie1.jpg\" alt=\"colorado springs wedding venue\" width=\"512\" height=\"742\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-787\" title=\"marcjulie2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.needlesandapen.com\/photography\/blog-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/marcjulie2.jpg\" alt=\"colorado springs wedding photography\" width=\"512\" height=\"742\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was a cloudy day and rained for a few minutes during the ceremony, but word on the street is that a little rain during the nuptials is good luck.  Plus, all the cool kids get married in the rain (Nic and I had an Eeyore-like cloud of rain pass through during our wedding ceremony).   :)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-790 aligncenter\" title=\"marcjulie5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.needlesandapen.com\/photography\/blog-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/marcjulie5.jpg\" alt=\"colorado springs wedding\" width=\"512\" height=\"742\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-789 aligncenter\" title=\"marcjulie4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.needlesandapen.com\/photography\/blog-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/marcjulie4.jpg\" alt=\"colorado springs wedding photography\" width=\"512\" height=\"742\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Margarita did a wonderful job with the food (yum, yum) and the cake was as pretty as it was delicious:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-791 aligncenter\" title=\"marcjulie6\" src=\"http:\/\/www.needlesandapen.com\/photography\/blog-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/marcjulie6.jpg\" alt=\"colorado springs wedding photography\" width=\"612\" height=\"475\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s one of my favorite candid moments of the day.  &#8220;Cake smashing&#8221; was a big topic of conversation (everyone warning Marc not to do it) and here is their pinkie promise to one another to be very nice at the cutting of the cake:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-792 aligncenter\" title=\"marcjulie7\" src=\"http:\/\/www.needlesandapen.com\/photography\/blog-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/marcjulie7.jpg\" alt=\"colorado springs wedding photography\" width=\"512\" height=\"742\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since the wedding was small (around 30 people), and the guests all very important to Marc and Julie, I made it a goal to try and catch a great candid portrait of everyone there.  Some people were trickier to catch than others (they would look at me every time I got my lens pointed anywhere near their direction), but one of my favorites is this shot of Julie&#8217;s dad:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-793 aligncenter\" title=\"marcjulie8\" src=\"http:\/\/www.needlesandapen.com\/photography\/blog-old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/marcjulie8.jpg\" alt=\"colorado springs wedding photography\" width=\"512\" height=\"742\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Julie and Marc wanted to spend a bare minimum of time on portraits with a real emphasis on candid photojournalistic style coverage, so we knocked out all of the formals very quickly.
