For a holiday week I’ve been shooting a ton! On Tuesday I met Karissa and Calvin for their engagement shoot in the snow. Karissa has fantastic style and braved the cold winter scene in formal attire!

I know it looks like Karissa is the hero of the shoot with her formal dress in the snow, but Calvin is the unsung hero…Karissa had knee high boots to protect her feet, but Calvin was tromping through 8 inches of snow in dress shoes! We decided his best bet on the drive home would be to go without his wet shoes. He also floated the idea of skipping his pants, too, since they were wet, but I declined to see if he followed through with that threat. :P

Nothing like a little hypothermia to create genuine laughter!

Snow engagement shoot

We wrapped up the shoot with some family pictures with their daughter. She was a few hours behind on sleep and not feeling up to a ton of photos, but I know we’ll catch lots of fun pictures with her on the wedding day!

I shared a sneak peek the other day, but here’s a glimpse at the rest of Lizzie’s newborn photo shoot:

I’ve never in my life met such a smiley newborn!  She is just precious and the best baby portrait model, even when she’s starting to get grumpy…

Lizzie was due on Christmas Day, but she very graciously made her entrance on December 10th (a convenient Saturday, no less)!

Bernadette’s water had broken the night before, but labor hadn’t started on its own.  Some pitocin took care of that and within a few hours she was ready for an epidural.  After the epidural she went from 3.5cm to 9.5cm in under an hour!   We’d all thought we had a long day ahead of us and instead we had a baby before lunch and the hat I was knitting Lizzie was far from finished!

Bernadette’s mom was there as an additional supporter,  I just loved the emotion on her face during the delivery and you know I’m a sucker for a crying dad!

Lizzie arrived at 10:51am and there was not a dry eye in the room.  Well, except for the doctor, but he had to see what he was doing.  :P

I am so jealous of the warm welcome Bernadette and Clint were able to give their sweet daughter.  She is so lucky to have had all these people waiting in the hospital to meet her!

The next day I was back to visit again.  I got to babysit Lizzie while her parents ran down to the hospital cafeteria.  We had a practice photoshoot and that sweet goddaughter of mine SMILED for me.  One day old and smiling for pictures.  She totally knew who was visiting.  :)  I even got to feed her a bottle of expressed milk.  Heaven!

Lizzie’s slideshow is here.  Get ready–you’ll be seeing a lot of this little cutie this year!
