Like all mothers, I have the occasional panic attack over the passage of time and my apparent unwittingness of it.   It’s made a little worse by the fact that I’m an accidental working mother.  I worry constantly that I’m missing things that I would otherwise be really noticing.  I’m in the business of taking pictures and sometimes weeks will go by without me turning my lens on Will!

So yesterday when Will made his first real intentional drawing (he actually set out to draw a spider, and spent MINUTES on it, which is like days in Will time), I decided it was time to unpack The Big Camera for some pictures.   And I left it out while he made spider after spider and spider web after spider web. (See the tongue out while he concentrates?  That’s a Nic Classic.)

Then I asked Will if he’d like me to take his picture.  He said “nope!”  and then rolled all over the floor laughing at how funny he is.  Cause if there’s one thing Will likes, it’s having someone take his picture!

When I downloaded these pictures, it was like a giant relief.  Because as BIG as he is, as much as I very well might be missing in my constant dash to Get Things Done, the shots of him rolling all over the floor were a total flash-back to pictures I took of him every day after his diaper changes when he was just a few months old.   And it was like “oh!  I haven’t lost that baby!  He’s still there!”

(PS–I know those are both terrible pictures.  But they made my day anyway.)

I got this invitation in the mail yesterday for my cousin‘s wedding.  I am totally over-the-top in love with it.

Just opening up the mailbox I was excited.  The thing is HUGE.  Like 9×12.  I thought:  “oooooh—this is gonna be good.”

And then I opened it and I was like “yep!”  Letterpress = happiness.

Stay tuned for their wedding pics–it’s just three weeks away!

The RSVP “card” is at the bottom–you detach either side (it’s perforated)…but there’s no way I’m doing ANYTHING to that invite!  It’s too cute!

And a bigger peek at it cause I’ve decided those pictures are all too small (and cause the “rain or rain” cracks me up!):

In unrelated news, we had a cancellation for our Boudoir Event, so we now have one last opening!

Jessica and Joe joined me yesterday for their engagement portrait shoot and a perfect spring afternoon in the park!  It was so warm that I was regretting my jacket by the end of the shoot and thinking that maybe, just maybe, spring might be here?  (That sounds like a good cue for a blizzard, so maybe I should shut my mouth and get on with the pictures…)

This setting was beautiful…but so stinky I wanted to die.  On the way home I could still smell it.  I think the stench might be burned into my clothing.

I got home and realized I was totally channeling my inner Image is Found for these next shots!

Joe is one of our grooms that pretends to be camera shy but then totally rocks it the whole shoot.  I’m beginning to not believe grooms when they say they’re camera shy and not photogenic.  :)

These guys were FUN:

I *love* close-ups.  If I could mount my 85mm lens and never take anything except close-ups, I could still live a completely fulfilled life!

And it’s even better when they’re as cute and in love as Jessica and Joe are!

But I guess if I only did close-ups I’d miss out on fun shots like this.  How cute is Jessica?!

This one is fun in color, but in black and white you can pretend that the leaves are green.  ;)

We closed off the shoot with these shots back at the stinky pond of stank:

Thanks for a very fun afternoon, Jessica and Joe!  I hope the traumatic memory of sitting in so much goose-poop will be short-lived or that you at least love the pictures enough to make it worth it!   I can’t wait for your wedding–I know it will be a blast!
