Danielle and Ryan were married last weekend at Danielle’s beautiful family home here in Black Forest.  Danielle and Ryan and their fun wedding party were so great to work with and all of the details were stunning.  Danielle is one of those grounded people who keeps who cool no matter what happens, and so of course everything worked out perfectly!  Even the day’s rain cooperated with the schedule, with the large storm of the day rolling out before the first look and the evening rain taking place during dinner, when everyone was cozy under the tent.  I was able to take some film shots, too, but those will take longer to come back from the lab.  In the mean time, here is their sneak peek!

Stephanie and Geoff are one of the sweetest couples we’ve worked with.  Their engagement shoot was scheduled for shortly after the fire, and Steph contacted me during the evacuation offering to cancel or reschedule the shoot.  They extended so much empathy, understanding that even though we were one of the lucky ones it was still a logistically and emotionally difficult time.  I was anxious to get back to work, so I didn’t take them up on the offer, but Steph’s email was one of those that touched me greatly, which meant that I was super excited that we had such fun dramatic light to play with at their shoot!  This shoot goes in my favorites!  I brought the film camera along and shot a couple of bonus black and whites during their shoot–I love the look of black and white film!

In my seven years of shooting portraits in Colorado, I’ve experienced my fair share of reschedules, but poor Clare takes the cake.  This mini session was originally scheduled for February, but between blizzards, illness, injury, a forest fire, and more wind than could blow poor Piglet away, we had more rescheduled dates for this shoot than I can even begin to count!  We finally made it happen, and I am so glad because they were so much fun to photograph!
