Ellie and I headed off to Las Vegas last week for the annual WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) event.  This was my second year attending, and it is such a highlight of my year.  Not just for the room service and housekeeping, not just for the classes and amazing speakers and inspiration, but also because it’s an opportunity to see some of my closest friends. Thanks to the beauty of the internet, we talk to each other every day, have known each other for years, and they are the people I go to when I need advice–both business and personal…but we rarely get to see each other because we’re spread all over the country!

This year only three from our group made the trip, but we had a blast.  Alison and I roomed together again this year (along with my friend Jamie–they were both very brave to be roommates with a 5 week old), and we continued what’s become tradition of doing one portrait shoot while there and then catching some headshots of each other.  (We need to break the tradition of doing it last minute on our last day next year, though!)

Here’s Alison in action during our portrait shoot (my non-behind-the-scenes pics from the shoot coming later this week!):

Photographers are crazy.  New white sweater?  Middle of the street?  No problem.

My favorite from our quick headshot session.

Bernadette and Haydn christened our new studio in Black Forest last month and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect for their Christmas card pics!  Pics from their “trash the dress shoot” that day (brrr!) to come in the next few weeks!

Kevin and Katie chose Palmer Park for their portrait shoot. We lucked out on the weather–managing to dodge a few rain clouds that day!  I love that we caught spring’s slow arrival with the green buds in the background!

Katie will be leaving for Afghanistan shortly.  We wish her health and safety during her deployment!

These pictures seemed like the perfect opportunity to play around with some new post processing techniques..
