my parents' visit

Jun 07, 2008

My parents came to visit a couple of weeks ago and I got a chance to play with some of the pictures from their trip this weekend. (And before you say it, I’ll preempt you: yes, they really are my parents, yes, they really do look too young to be my parents, and yes, they really do like each other this much. But don’t let that stop you from leaving comments saying how young and cute they are–they love that stuff.) ;)

We took them to Manitou Springs for a little local tourism and lapsed into an impromptu photo shoot.

This is your standard photographer’s kid reaction to impromptu photo shoots:

My parents were much more willing subjects:

We let Will run for a while on the Manitou Library grounds.

That kid can run.

It’s Nic’s job to catch him.

We decided it was time for a little ice cream and lemonade. (I like how Will is clearly checking out the money here–you know it won’t be long before he knows who to go to for presents.)

We got lemonade, but Will wasn’t about to share it. Every time my mom asked for a sip, he glared at her and held it tighter…which made us all laugh. Not really reinforcing Goodness, but he’s usually very generous, so this no-lemonade-for-you amused us greatly.

And then we went to the arcade and Will got to ride the little kiddie rides for the first time in his life. He unleashed his full cuteness power and I have 100 pictures that totally slay me. Feel badly for me–no mother should have a toddler this cute. How could I ever say “no” to this cute little face?!
