  • Welcome to my blog!

Hi! I'm Traci. I'm a Registered Nurse who loves quilting, knitting, cross stitch, and the great outdoors. In my pre-scrubs life, I owned Real Photography, and you can still see my old wedding and portrait photography site here .

I've created a map that shows links to our camping/hiking/general family fun review posts that you can find here. It's pretty much the coolest thing on this site. Thanks, Google!

I great big puffy heart *love* comments, so please let me know you visited! I try to always reply!

I don’t want a baby stister. I want the officers to take the baby away.

Will.

Mark your calendars—it took 8 months to hear that stereotypical “I want the baby to go away” line.  And you know what did it?  It’s the age old shit-rolls-downhill.  The older boy whom Will adores that lives next door ran right past Will on his way home from the bus, saying “I can’t talk to you, I can’t play with you” in a mean sort of way (investigating this is my job this evening).  Will came inside and immediately began dumping on Ellie.  “STOP TALKING ELOISE.”  “You’re BOTHERING me, ELOISE.”  And (my favorite) “YOU’RE WASTING MY TIME, ELOISE.”

It’s amazing how the love that Will receives is the main determining factor in the love that he gives.  Toward the end of the summer I noticed that each time we had the babysitter watch them (who has an incredible bond with Ellie) the day afterward we’d see all sorts of jealousy from Will that we never saw before.

half apron

My friend’s birthday party was last weekend, and she had mentioned after seeing my chicken skirt that she’d love an apron in that pattern.  So I knew just what to get her along with the new Bakerella book!

I made the pattern up as I went along, and will be posting a tutorial just as soon as I can get the weddings piled up on my hard drives down to a more reasonable level.  Picking up a last minute 2 day wedding this weekend didn’t help!

Fabric:  chickens and brown + white circles from the Monaluna Robert Kaufman line, yellow with white dots is also Robert Kaufman.

Susanne - Very cute and so thoughtful!

Bernadette - yay! I wear it all of the time! thank you so much, I love it!

At church we got a (very belated) welcome basket.  In it was a loaf of bread and a bottle of wine.  Will LOVES bread, so it can as no surprise to hear him calling up to me asking if he could have some “church bread.”  (When he heard ‘yes’ he shouted ‘“HURRAY!”)  He then brought me the wine and asked if I’d like some.  When I said not now, he said “God made it.”

Which gave me the best mental image of God barefoot in a big wooden tub, squashing grapes with Lucy and Ethel.

When the rocket ship cracks the moon all the pieces will fall down and then we won’t have a moon anymore.

Will, as we drove home and admired the moon.

I’m a junk food boy.

Will. (After my incredulous “WHO said that to you?!”  He insisted “Nobody.  I said it.  When I was 4 years old.”)

Els picked up a guy for the first time today.  We were getting lunch and a (cute!) guy at the restaurant said “She is the cutest thing I’ve seen all day.”

7 months old and already getting hit on.  Of course, she was wearing a diaper cover with a big flower on the butt.  The infant equivalent of a tramp stamp.
